Helping the Children of Africa

9:53 am This area is called Kiwolera a small village in Kamuli , Uganda where we serve 6 or 7 families and nearly 30 kids live there. Only about 5 have a sponsor at this time. Most homes have a dirt floor and many kids were sleeping on straw mats or tiny pieces of old foam as you see below. That's their tiny bed. LETS GET A FEW MORE SPONSORED SINCE School begins this week and there is a drought and high food prices. $15 a month helps 1 student stay in school. These families are all simple farmers raising greens or sweet potatoes. 8/10/16  9:15am Since my trip in June we have been able to gather some new sponsors for several kids in our org. 10 very lucky kids who got gifts and supplies for school and will be able to continue being educated. A few babies will also be receiving food . We have more kids waiting for help. We want to reach out to those in the most desperate circumstances. Invite friends. This is the BEST WAY that we encounter new people who wish to help the needy! Thanks to all who have shared our posts and invited others to join us. Their lives are turning around. When this family below moved further away they thought they'd never see any of us again and never get help again . But we have done our best to keep them in our org and have made monthly visits to see their progress. Being a single  with mom 8 kids  and no job can't be easy. The Betrayal of those who claim to "HELP" children. 10:43am     8-31-14 It all began in 2008 with 20 kids in a home who needed school fees. After 1 year of getting photos and even letters from them we found out the orphanage owner wasn't feeding them much except meal of "maize" a day and they were not attending a school regularly. The kids suffered so much and quickly moved on to live back at home with their families. The orphanage staff had only "recruited" these kids and while they were needy, most  were not orphans. Some had moms back at home who were just too poor to raise them. When they were promised a better life for the kids they let them go so they could have an education and meals etc which isn't what they got. Even when we mailed them clothes, shoes, toys most were taken and sold by the orphanage owner to make money for himself when he left the kids and just abandoned them all at home. 6/18/14   9:23 am Would anyone like their child to get any extra food ? Its been a month since I was there handing out food and we have some deliveries going out next week to kids. I'd say at least $7 per child should cover sugar, rice or beans for a few days. I know other orgs who gives monthly food to all sponsored kids to take home. We only did this only once on my last trip in mbiko due the high costs.  But buying in bulk helps. So if anyone else wants to donate monthly or bi-monthly so their kids get enough to eat at home especially on weekends then let me know. So I can see what we can work out. Jan 28,14 9:30 pm Probably the biggest problem the kids in Uganda face each day is hunger. Some kids get only 1 meal a day and usually that meal is the school lunch they're served.  Kids have told me before that there was nothing at home to eat. Sometimes they would only drink tea. Imagine what it would be like as a young child to wait many hours during the day to get 1 simple meal of beans or cornmeal. This is why Ugandan children are often underweight and have stunted growth due to their poor diet.  That's why we're planning to do more food related projects . We plan to also take more food and deliver in some of the poorest villages in the Jinja area. Will you help us? 1:08 pm June 9, 2013 One thing I've realized is there's no "comfort" in Uganda. The beds are lumpy, the pillows and sofa's are hard. The chairs aren't comfy and are few and far between. Most restaurants have only plastic lawn chairs for diners to sit in. There's dark orange dirt everywhere, your clothing gets covered in all that dust and its hard to wash off. Kids have to scrub clothes by hand and that's why their clothes are ruined and have big holes since they have to rub them so hard to get out stains. Most people don't "comfort" their crying children either. The parents or guardians of kids have a "they'll get over it" attitude and tend to ignore kids most of the time. Many parents don't ever hug their child.   People there walk 1-2 miles to get water from a well and also to get to school, the market, church, clinics etc. Most families can't even afford to ride in a taxi van or on the back of motor bikes that ...

She was badly burned last week when she got too close to a pot of boiling water and it fell on her. She is currently at Jinja Children's Hospital in Uganda and she's getting some treatment but her family is so poor and without help they can't afford to pay her medical bills. Below is a photo taken one day before and a day after she was burned. Her condition is not good. If you can make a donation of any amount to help her it would be wonderful.
