Helping the Children of Africa

Aug 8, 17   6:48pm Baby Abu is the 2nd child we've found in such bad condition. The only other starving child we found was baby Fatuma and she couldn't swallow well due to CP. Abu can walk but is weak and sucks his thumb constantly it see ms. He's lucky to be sponsored but his family situation goes beyond normal monthly sponsorship (mom is alone selling only sugar cane) and there is a sister who seems to be about 3.  Abu around 18 months to 2. They are lucky they had a mattress and net at home to share . The area of kamuli where they stay is Buwenge Mpia (the ghetto ) of kamuli. Where a few of our kids stay since rent is cheaper than in the town. its 10 mins or so walk from the tiny downtown. So we are wondering if any members would want to make a donation of any size to help with food, clothing or soap/ hygiene items and meds if needed. 9:13am 6/29/16 Exactly 2 years ago we started to think and plan about our future as a charity, We knew that with the amount of money it takes to sponsor 100 kids each month why not put that into running our own small school and hire the best teachers. Teachers who are kind, reliable, honest and having a child's best interest are incredibly hard to find in a land filled with corruption and everyone is trying to survive daily they don't often put the needs of others (especially kids ) above their own needs. But I know somewhere out there are some teachers with kids interests in mind. Sadly a really great teacher left one school last year . Our staff and our students really liked her and she seemed to genuinely care about kids and helped them learn and tutored them a bit extra.   Many schools cram students 50-100 per classroom and   care very little about those they teach. Jan 28,14 9:30 pm Probably the biggest problem the kids in Uganda face each day is hunger. Some kids get only 1 meal a day and usually that meal is the school lunch they're served.  Kids have told me before that there was nothing at home to eat. Sometimes they would only drink tea. Imagine what it would be like as a young child to wait many hours during the day to get 1 simple meal of beans or cornmeal. This is why Ugandan children are often underweight and have stunted growth due to their poor diet.  That's why we're planning to do more food related projects . We plan to also take more food and deliver in some of the poorest villages in the Jinja area. Will you help us? July 3, 2013   6:40 pm  A lot of people have many different views on how to help Africa. I agree that its very bad to give money to anyone you see on the street. Most of the time if money is given to begging children it will immediately be taken by their guardian/older sibling or other relative. It won't help the child. So in our sponsorship program we've always tried to focus on education for the children and not giving handouts to the parents. They should try their best to find whatever work is available. Most times parents especially the men of the house will spend their money on themselves and not give a second thought to their kids. This is why we want the children to have the chance to get an education even if their own family doesn't /can't provide for them. April 25,2013    9:48 am Many Families in Uganda find it hard to provide for their children. A typical family will earn $1-$2 a day. Food for 1 meal such as a bag of cornmeal or beans costs about 80 cents to $1 so families spend the majority of their income on food. So they will sometime's send their children to an orphanage or school to live if they can't afford to feed them at home. Children aren't often valued there and many end up on the streets either because they run away from abusive homes or because their relatives throw them out if no one cares about them. Imagine if you had to give away your child because you couldn't feed them. Consider donating today so a child can stay at home and not have to be sent away because they can't be fed and have their basic needs taken care of. March 7, 2013 9:48 am More kids got monthly gifts from sponsors in Feb.  Africa, every year, over 700,000 children die needlessly from this completely preventable disease. More children die from malaria then any other disease in the world. Mostly children under the age of five. There are 10 new cases of malaria every second. Every 60 seconds, a child in Africa dies from a malaria infection. This is why every child will get a mosquito net for their monthly sponsorship gift in March. PROVIDE CHICKENS TO NEW VICTORY SCHOOL! Chickens cost $3 each and provide a good source of food and the kids learn valuable skills by raising the chickens. These children truly have nothing and eat only beans or cornmeal for most meals. Some only get 1 meal a day. They need more nutritious food. Donate here 100% of any donation goes to the school! Uganda was Amazing! The kids were the best part. The weather was great also. We took the kids swimming and to the plaground! They are all so needy but atleast they got 1 week of fun. These kids still need many things they can't even afford simple low cost items like school socks, $3, spoons 13 cents each, School uniform $5. Bowls 15 cents each. Donate here to help the kids!
