Our Dream . Help us accomplish it!

9:13am 6/29/16 Exactly 2 years ago we started to think and plan about our future as a charity, We knew that with the amount of money it takes to sponsor 100 kids each month why not put that into running our own small school and hire the best teachers. Teachers who are kind, reliable, honest and having a child's best interest are incredibly hard to find in a land filled with corruption and everyone is trying to survive daily they don't often put the needs of others (especially kids ) above their own needs. But I know somewhere out there are some teachers with kids interests in mind. Sadly a really great teacher left one school last year . Our staff and our students really liked her and she seemed to genuinely care about kids and helped them learn and tutored them a bit extra.   Many schools cram students 50-100 per classroom and   care very little about those they teach. Beating kids with sticks is also very common and we really   want better ...

Busy Busy Times

6:27 pm 3/3/16 Another year has brought us several changes. We have now 2 staff members helping us out. One returned for his 1 1/2 year stay in Canada and now Kamuli and Mbiko are well looked after. BUT we still have no staff member who lives full time in the slum of Mbiko. So there will still be issues and situations beyond our control. I also know that I hear a few rumors from teens there and many aren't so credible so until I verify the info in GREAT DEPTH with a staff member I WON'T be passing the info to the child's sponsor. We've seen several times where conflicting stories lead sponsors to go beyond their means to help a child and then have to drop the child if the burden becomes too big to handle. Also as our kids get older we know now that its MANDATORY that They Must board in grades 7 and then Senior 4 (in High School) yes in Uganda there are 6 years of highschool not 4 like our own countries. Boarding fees of Senior students is typically $150-$2...

What WE Will and Won't do for the Families

7/23/15      2:23 pm Mbiko is a very frustrating Village to work in due to the mentality of parents there. Also many teens are now showing low interest in studying. I'm not sure what the future holds for such an area where handouts are expected but adults want to do so little to receive the help. Like parents who ask for a small business loan and end up wasting the money just to pay rent or do whatever they want. Or they get an animal to raise and it ends up dying due to lack of proper care. A few families successfully raise livestock but its a 50/50 type thing. It either may or may not work. Such as sad way of life to be dependant on others and we don't want to continue to create such dependancy.. A hand up is better than a handout. If livestock is working for 1 family we'll keep that family. This is why   W e Will continue only to give and education and food to our kids in our program.   We Won't try Small busniess loans or other forms of he...

How Our Families Live

June 2, 12:30 Another wonderful is complete but I want to share with you all about what we see when we visit all our families. Photos below show the level of poverty and desperation our kids live in daily. The poverty in Uganda never gets any better. We have one family who has no outdoor toilet at all. It was a simple outhouse with a hole in the ground but then someone with money came in and bought their land leaving them with no options. Now their only bathroom will be the bushes around the home. Their only income comes from a small garden of corn which is what they eat daily along with a few mangoes from their tree when their in season. This is the very poorest family serve. A family who can''t provide any school supplies for their kids so everything comes from sponsors. At our low rate of $15 a month this covers tuition and a meal or 2 at school depending on a childs age. Young kids below grade 1 typically leave school before lunch is served. They attend ...
