Helping the Children of Africa

Sept 4, 2014  10:53 am  We're looking to raise funds to provide food such as potatoes, cooking oil, rice , beans , sugar, maize   $550 to help 2-3 villages serving a total of 150 + people. No donation is too big or too small.  I'll deliver the food myself and take plenty of photos .  We have a thermometer on the side of the blog to keep track of how much we raise. Let's begin to give now.  I also plan to hand out plastic type sandals like crocs, jellies or flip flops to many kids in these villages especially the rural village of kamuli where we found plenty of kids with VERY WORN clothing. So we'll hand out clothes also like we did back in May .   Below are photos from kamuli. You can donate to either project the "clothing bundle" project or the food project!

The Betrayal of those who claim to "HELP" children. 10:43am     8-31-14 It all began in 2008 with 20 kids in a home who needed school fees. After 1 year of getting photos and even letters from them we found out the orphanage owner wasn't feeding them much except meal of "maize" a day and they were not attending a school regularly. The kids suffered so much and quickly moved on to live back at home with their families. The orphanage staff had only "recruited" these kids and while they were needy, most  were not orphans. Some had moms back at home who were just too poor to raise them. When they were promised a better life for the kids they let them go so they could have an education and meals etc which isn't what they got. Even when we mailed them clothes, shoes, toys most were taken and sold by the orphanage owner to make money for himself when he left the kids and just abandoned them all at home. June 30, 2014 It's time to start thinking/dreaming big for our charity and the kids in the program. We have struggled for so long to keep these kids in school. Often either a child will leave the program or a sponsor will stop helping the kids they have chosen (which leaves a deficit ) if we can't find another sponsor to help. Both of these circumstances make it hard on us as sometimes if a child leaves a sponsor won't wish to choose another since they had a close friendship to ones they had been supporting. We are a small charity and we want to keep growing each year. We've never been able to reach out to many areas due to lack of enough donors but this year we have successfully put 104 students in primary / Secondary schools located in 4 areas of Uganda. 6/18/14   9:23 am Would anyone like their child to get any extra food ? Its been a month since I was there handing out food and we have some deliveries going out next week to kids. I'd say at least $7 per child should cover sugar, rice or beans for a few days. I know other orgs who gives monthly food to all sponsored kids to take home. We only did this only once on my last trip in mbiko due the high costs.  But buying in bulk helps. So if anyone else wants to donate monthly or bi-monthly so their kids get enough to eat at home especially on weekends then let me know. So I can see what we can work out.  May 27, 2014 1:26pm The kids in Uganda deal with so much like what I have written out below. Several stories pop out like the girl who told me she can't always take both sugar and soap to boarding school so she takes just soap as she has to have it to wash her clothes. Even if school fees are covered kids still have so many needs. School shoes are a big one because of all the walking most do in muddy slippery conditions the shoes wear out fast.  $15-$20 is beyond what most families can afford to pay for shoes when a typical wage is $1-$2 a day.    Plus some kids feet grow fast but many are still wearing the same size clothes 3 yrs later. To grow only 3-4 inches in 3 yrs isn't much. They can wear clothes for a long time but shoes have to be replaced a lot.  Some children wear old torn clothing that is very dirty.  If anyone can help by buying some soap and other things for kids without sponsors that would be great.  Some kids beg to...
