Helping the Children of Africa

NOTE: This post isn't intended to bash parents in Uganda but to simply point out the  incredibly large differences in how kids are handled and how usually their best  interests aren't considered. Most of this is due to Ignorance because the parents aren't educated.  They end up making the worst possible choices for their kids and our program and the kids suffer because of this.  Many times over these 6 years of an official "Sponsorship program"  we've seen parents pick an expensive school (not on our list of chosen schools) and move their child to it without our knowledge or consent.  May 25, 17   10:56 am  Then they try and stick us with the bill which is higher than  any schools we've chosen. So even when parents agree to pay the difference  whatever that may amount to (usually $30-$50 more a term per child ) and 90 % of the time  parents fail to even $5 or sometimes nothing at all . 4-23-17  8:08 pm  Drought killed most of the harvest all over Uganda during Dec, Jan and rain has just begun. So this means food costs have sky rocketed and many  needy families are living on very little to survive.  Most are farmers with no options when their crops die. We are asking for $600 to serve our most needy families with food and other supplies. Thanks to anyone who can give to relieve the affects of drought and famine! Give on the link above!

April 2, 2017 4:33 pm We've had so many illness within our org recently. Kids getting sick , parents being injured on motorbikes, many people getting malaria from the rainy season. One child with HIV is very sick right now and needs to be hospitalized but we've always tried to use $100 of a child's school fee for that certain student. Funds can't be prioritized for other more urgent things If a family loses a house (and typical rent for our families per month is $10-$50) and we could help them for a month or 2 to get settled. Some families have emergency food needs So if anyone would like to donate to this fund this would be great. The needs are so vast and can't be covered through monthly sponsorship (which is tuition and meals only) If someone doesn't want to help a child monthly why not give an occasional gift of $10 or $20 Typical hospital costs range from $20-$100 this is far from what a poor Ugandan family can afford. 9:53 am This area is called Kiwolera a small village in Kamuli , Uganda where we serve 6 or 7 families and nearly 30 kids live there. Only about 5 have a sponsor at this time. Most homes have a dirt floor and many kids were sleeping on straw mats or tiny pieces of old foam as you see below. That's their tiny bed. LETS GET A FEW MORE SPONSORED SINCE School begins this week and there is a drought and high food prices. $15 a month helps 1 student stay in school. These families are all simple farmers raising greens or sweet potatoes. 12/27/16 9:36am Our kids had very simple Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebrations at home with their families and at overnight church services. Many are away seeing relatives in other areas.  They will be getting all their belated Christmas gifts soon for the New Year. No one exchanges gifts in Uganda not even the middle class.. So anytime a gift comes its a blessing. Be ready for lots of photos of the areas I travel to. Happy New year to all thanks for all the support. Let's make 2017 ever Better for these kids!

12/5/16 4:33pm Wishing all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  Thanks to all of ours sponsors.   Since my June trip we've had more than   12 new sponsors   join us and choose kids. (22 kids to be exact) This brings our grand total to around 143 kids now and the number grows daily. We're forever grateful to those who spread the word and helped us to gain new sponsors! Spreading the word is the very best way to help.  We are planning on delivering Food , Clothes, Sandals and soap to lots of kids & 10 new mattresses bringing our total # of mattresses donated this year to 16 this will make their new year brighter. 2016 has quite possibly been our best year ever with the number of sponsors and number of kids growing I'm sure one day we'll succeed with our goal of building a school to better serve Uganda's youth.  We hope we've done our very best to make Christmas and the New Year a  memorable one for all our kids and their fam...

11/12/16 Imagine living your whole life eating very little beyond the normal corn mail and beans you see below. Not many green vegetables, fruits or fatty, sweets items to keep you in good health.. no fats and sugar aren't great but in moderation they are needed in your diet. Also imagine sleeping on a dirt floor and having no bedding except an old torn dirty blanket. This is reality for many families in Uganda. We want these kids to have a better life. We want to educate them and provide them with better quality meals but we need your help... Donate $5 for greens or cabbage and we'll deliver to a needy family such as families of orphans or kids affected by aids who need to keep their health in good standing.
