Life in Uganda

Nov 11, 2012 7:23 am

During my trip to the school I saw many new things and many others that needed improving.
The most major problem at the school is food .. But also rats in the food storage area. They carry so many diseases and if they get into the food they will pass on things that are usually deadly. So someone needs to either get cats or find another way to get rid of the rats. Plus leaving the huge pile of maize out in the open on the floor of a classroom is real unsanitary and its so easy for all kinds of bugs, animals and parasites to get in the food and the kids step all over it. Flies even fall into their food since its served outside. So the kids were still semi living like animals with animals.
Rats run around in the dorms and can bite the kids and some wild animal (a leopard they think) came one night and killed/ate 6 goats.
So I told the kids don't ever go out after dark at school.

Hasifa with all that she owns.

We provided eggs one day to all students

 Gifts from sponsor

We bought them 2 camping toilets 1 for each dorm so they don't run out to the latrines at night.
We also bought 20 cabbages one day for $3 total, this lasted 3 days to boil and put in the kids soup.
Several kids told me how they would like to have something other than just beans and cornmeal at every single meal.
The kids never seem to grow much and need more nutrition. So we can raise a few extra dollars each month to provide different food. They can even get a little cup of ice cream for 30 cents per child.

If anyone wants to make a one time donation to the school to help with the needs listed above then click the DONATE button to give with paypal.

They have to move to a new house since the one they are in now has been bought by somone and they are being forced to move within a week. All the kids are crying and worrying about where they will go since they don't have $100 (monthly) to rent a new house. Some of the kids wouldn't eat because they were too sad yesterday. ...................URGENT 8 kids can't go to school if they have no fees!

This is Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The kids need fees by May 25th to go to school. 6 kids have fees already so that leaves 8 without fees. I soon hope to be selling Ugandan necklaces to benefit these kids also. Won't you consider buying an African craft or pay a child's school fees? It's only $15 a year! 8 kids will not attend school if they no fees and these kids all live together in the Orphanage, they are like brothers and sisters and if some kids attend school while the others can't it would sad. So consider making a donation for the kids even if it's only $1 or $5 they will be SO HAPPY! THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE DONATED SO FAR!!!
